14th December 2002Conditions: Wet roads with standing water
A number of runs were completed but the major problem was with wheelspin which is reflected
in the first few runs. Once I'd learnt to do "granny" starts the times came down.
| Run no. | 0-60 mph (secs) | Distance (ft) | G-force @ 10mph (g) |
| 1 | 10.66 | 478 | 0.09 |
| 2 | 9.27 | 468 | 0.54 |
| 3 | 8.29 | 404 | 0.47 |
| 4 | 7.58 | 377 | 0.51 |
| 5 | 7.59 | 376 | 0.48 |
| 6 | 6.86 | 344 | 0.64 |
| 7 | 6.81 | 340 | 0.59 |
Comments
Run 1
Notice on the lack of g at 10mph. This was due to major wheelspin! ;o)
Run 2
I'd managed to stop wheelspin in first gear but the change to second prompted another major
wheelspin which is reflected in the g at 30mph of 0.08g
Runs 6 & 7
These show much more g at 10mph as by that stage I was perfecting the starts and getting
no wheelspin.
Graph for run 7
Graph showing mph and g against time.
Notice that I don't loose any speed during the gear changes which has to be a good thing! Also
note the huge drop in g during the gear changes.
I'm sure that with dry roads I can put out some quicker times. Keep watching this space as I'll
be doing more test as soon as the roads dry out (so that'll be next June then! ;o)
